Sometime last year I found a pack of black frames in Walmart...it was a pack of ten for $10, in different sizes. They weren't the best quality frames by far, but I wasn't looking to spend lots of money on frames I would be painting and re-doing. So I used one of the 4x4 frames from the back, and painted over it with blue paint (Apple Barrel's "Cloudless"...it's been my color of choice in many projects this year).
I went for a slightly antique look by letting some of the black show through the blue.
(The color is pretty off in the pic above due to the lighting at the present time)
I also picked up a few color swatches during our last trip to Lowe's, I have seen some cute projects for making flowers using paint color swatches, so I decided to give it a try.
I cut out a circle from the color swatch, cut around the inside of the circle in a spiral, and rolled it up. I then made a white fabric rosette to go in the middle.
Then I cut out a piece of fabric to fit in the frame, and put it inside the frame after it dried.
Then I used hot glue to glue on the color swatch/fabric rosette.
Here it is finished!
A close-up of the swatch/fabric rosette...
Easy and inexpensive since I already had everything on hand (other than the free color swatches picked up about a week ago).
I love using framed scrapbook paper, fabric, and even wrapping paper to decorate. To see some of my other "decorating for less" projects using framed scrapbook paper and wrapping paper, click HERE!
